Automatic Water Sprinkler

I bought an automatic water sprinkler before I left for the U.S., and set a timer to sprinkle water. It worked well. My flowers did not die and they have many more blossoms. I am glad they are alive as I am looking forward to seeing them in full blooms. The name of this flower is California Rose Fiesta.

Yogurt Pom Pom

I made an apple cake, called Yogurt Pom Pom. This is the best apple cake I ever had in my life.
The burnt area is so tasty in particular. I tried several times. I tried to add almond powder. I reduced the amount of sugar. I decorated the top with apple. However, following the original recipe is the best. I could not find the proper apple for this cake.
If I use the proper one, it should be even tastier.

Spaghetti Squash with Halibut Saurce

I recently had a very interesting and rare dish while in the U.S. It is called spaghetti with halibut sauce. Instead of using regular spaghetti, we used spaghetti squash. This squash has so much fiber that, after steaming, it can be shredded with a fork and will look like spaghetti.

I do not think I have seen this kind of squash in Japan.
This is a spaghetti squash.

Flowers at home.

A pansy plant was given to my mother by the day care center. It has grown to have tens of flowers. A pot of Cyclamen was given as the prize at a year end lottery. Blue daisies, yellow Julian, red Gerbera and cabbage flowers were added. They are turning out to be a pretty flower arrangement.

"Some type of a Japanese traditional event is being conducted in the neighborhood. Would you like to come and see what it is?" This is what MyD came back and reported to me on December 30, 2008.「マンションの前の家の庭で日本の伝統的な行事らしいものが行われているよ。

Oh yes, it is one of the traditional events that we seldom see today. It was rice pounding to make rice balls by a neighborhood family. They let MyD pound. It was a fun experience.

Little Kid's Powerful Power

A four-year-old boy empowered an elderly boy to skip together. A rare shot of MyD jumping spontaneously.

Queen of Fish & Scenery

This is a beautiful shot of a Marlin. This Marlin was caught by MyD and the photo was taken by his friend. Surely, everyone had some wonderful moments of fishing this year. We released all the marlin, sailfish, and most of the dorado.

This is the symbol of Cabo San Lucas - El Arco. In English, it means the arch. When we see this on the boat, we are back to the port. An exciting day is over.

My Fish

I was able to catch lots of Dorado this year, more than plenty. The 1st day, it was 15. The 2nd day, it was 12. However, the local authorities introduced a law and they limited our catch of fish for each day as follows:
Dorado ... 4 per person or 6 for 2 people
Marlin/Sail fish ... one per boat. You can catch more, as long as you release them.

This year was the first time ever for me to catch this type of fish!

It was so big and heavy. It weighs approximately 100 pounds. I was trying to spread its sail, which is the top fin.

It was a sailfish that I caught.
In addition, I also caught a marlin (about 140 pounds), the first time I caught a marlin for a while. It took about 25 minutes before we released it. It was an exciting year for fishing.

Cabo San Lucas - Sun Rise

Beautiful nature greeted us on the 1st morning of our fishing at Cabo San Lucas. This was the sun rise we saw on the fishing boat.

With a Special Neighborhood for the Memory Impared

This signage caught my eyes during our drive between El Segundo and Redondo Beach in Southern California. I imagine this is for the elderly people's facility, so called "Group Home" in Japan. The phrase is gracefully avoiding a direct word such as dementia.

Photos from Alaska

These photos of flowers were sent by MyD. We planted them in early July. When I was there, many of them did not have many blossoms and some were laying down. Since then a lot have grown and they are still coming out. How pretty they are!
