Cut carbohydrate! 炭水化物の摂取を削減しよう！

This book, "Glucide Off for Health" has been my eye-opener.  I was diagnosed as having "Non-alcoholic fatty liver" last July.  As a remedy, my doctor advised me to exercise a lot.  However, I daily jog a mile.  I play tennis whenever I can.  I was shocked. This book gave me a good hint.

この「糖質オフ健康法」という本がひょっとして私を助けてくれたかもしれない。去年の7月「脂肪肝」と診断された。その改善法として「運動を沢山しなさい。」ということでしたが、私は日ごろから1マイルのジョギングをしている。できるときは、テニスもしている。アルコールも飲まない。何故、脂肪肝になったのか府に落ちない。そんな時にこの本に出会い、これだと思った。

Steve Jobs

It was an interesting book in several ways.  The time he was involved in creating a computer coincided with the time I first started to use a computer. I even argued which was better Apple or Microsoft in the past.  Therefore, it was interesting to read the development of different models he created.
Another intersting aspect was that the book introduced some ugly aspects of Mr. Jobs as well. Mr. Jobs knew about it and did not object.  At the beginning, therefore, it was quite astonishing to read.  The book ended up quite nicely. 

ジョブス氏の本は色んな意味で楽しく読めた。というのも、ちょうどジョブス氏がコンピューターにかかわった頃に私もコンピューターを使い始めていて、後に、アップルがいいかWindowsの方がいいか議論を交わしたこともあったので、親しみを感じた。また、この本はジョブス氏の華やかな面だけでなくどちらかというと隠しておきたい面も露骨に紹介されているので、読み始めはずいぶん驚かされた。

1984 1Q84

I skimmed through the 3rd in a series of books titled"1Q84" written by Haruki Murakami.  In Japanese, 1Q84 has the same sound of 1984.  I have 1984 by George Orwell but have never finished reading. 

1Q84の３巻目を読み終えた。この本に興味を持ったのは、ジョージオーエルの1984をまだ読み終えていなかったからだ。なんとか、1984を読み終えたいとは思うけどさていつになるやら。

Open - Andre Agassi オープン アンドレアガシ

I try to buy a book as a souvenior for myself when I visit the States. I

picked up this book recently because it looked easy to read. Once I opened the book, oh, my goodness, he writes as if he is talking. That means it will take longer to finish reading. However, it turned out to be quite readable. I learned how Agasi ended up playing tennis. I could not believe Steffi Graf married Agassi. Anyway, I feel happy for Agassi. It is very important for a person to have a right partner in your life.

アメリカに行く度に自分へのお土産として本を買うようにしています。アメリカで買うほうが安いからですが。やさしくて早く読めるものを選びます。今回選んだのは、テニスプレーヤーのアガシの本。読み始めてびっくり。いくら易しいといえど、しゃべり言葉で書かれているのには閉口。が、読み続けていると結構読める本でした。ずけずけと余り良からぬことを実名で書いて、それも、彼の性格でしょうか。いずれにせよ、自分の大好きな人と一緒になれて本当に良かったです。

AFGHAN GIRL アフガニスタン人

I have just finished a book about an Afghan for the first time in my life.  This story is written by an Afghan refugee high school girl in the U.S.  I did not know that there was an ordinary household life in Afghanistan as you can expect in Japan, or anywhere else.  What is funny is that they also had a match-making marriage, which we had in Japan generations ago.  She used to have an ordinary and actually a wealthy life there.   Her life was destroyed when the author stepped on a mine and when Taliban bombed her house.  I also learned how difficult it is to be helped by the World Relief Organization.  Without her strong commitment, energy and courage, she and her mother could not have been selected as refugees.  I hope for her happiness in the U.S..

MyDの友人、Ed & Chrisの家にお邪魔している時、写真の本が目に付いた。今まで、アフガニスタンについて読んだことがなかったので興味を引いた。読むとなんと、アフガニスタンにも普通の家庭があり、普通の暮らしがあった。裕福な家庭で育った一人の女の子がある日地雷を踏んで足を失くし、その上に、彼女の家がタリバンに爆撃を受けた時からすべてが変わった。ワールドリリーフに最終的には助けられたものの、難民としして認められるまでの過程は簡単なものではないことを知り驚いた。この本は、今、難民としてアメリカに住むこの女子高校生が書いたものです。彼女が幸せになりますように。
